ANA President Dr. Jennifer Mensik Kennedy named to Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives, Class of 2024

11 June 2024

The American Nurses Association (ANA), the premier organization representing the interests of the nation’s more than 5 million registered nurses, is honored to announce that ANA President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives for 2024.

This prestigious program honors licensed clinicians in executive roles who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be paving the way to better health through their executive responsibility, leadership qualities, innovation, community service and achievements inside and outside of their respective organizations.

This special recognition of Dr. Mensik Kennedy is timely and well deserved. She’s currently at the helm of the largest professional association for nurses in the country, representing nurses through advocacy, national campaigns, legislative efforts, and initiatives to promote and instill the value of nursing. Throughout Dr. Mensik Kennedy’s tenure at ANA, she has led groundbreaking work to provide actionable solutions to some of the most critical issues facing nurses within their practice environments. Long standing challenges such as safe staffing, racism in nursing, workplace violence and the mental health and wellness crisis were common in the profession, exacerbated by a worldwide pandemic, and have persisted in a society that is still learning how to truly value nurses and their contributions. Dr. Mensik Kennedy sets the standard for health care leaders through her passion, dedication, and consistent efforts to ensure nurses are not only seen and heard, but also have a seat in all places where decisions are being made.

"Our 2024 honorees work in all corners of the industry and at organizations and companies of all sizes," said Mary Ellen Podmolik, editor-in-chief at Modern Healthcare. "Yet one thing they share is a commitment to improving their organizations inside and out. They are leading workforce strategies, expanding access to care and improving the bottom line. At the same time, our 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives also are finding time to be part of their communities, a critical part of understanding the patient’s needs and redefining healthcare."

The profiles of all the honorees are featured in the June 10, 2024, issue of MH magazine and online at Modern Healthcare. You can learn more about Dr. Mensik-Kennedy’s background and accomplishments here.
