DNP Research Study: How nurses who work in behavioral and psychiatric inpatient care experience the physical environments they work in.

21 January 2025

Are you a nurse who works in inpatient behavioral/psychiatric care in the United States? If so, we want to hear from you!

What's the purpose of this study?
Researchers at Clemson University are conducting this study to learn about how the physical environments of inpatient behavioral/psychiatric care units affect nurses. They also want to know what nurses think of the design of the units they work in and how features or characteristics of their units impact their work and well-being. This study will help healthcare architects and organizations develop strategies for improving the design of behavioral and psychiatric care environments to support nurses better.

Who can participate in this study?
Nurses (RNs, LPNs, APRNs, & NPs) who work in inpatient behavioral and psychiatric care units in the United States are eligible to participate in this study. Your participation is completely voluntary.

What does participation involve?
You will complete a survey that will ask you questions about your experiences as a nurse and your thoughts on the way your unit is designed. The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Your responses are confidential. Upon completing the survey, you may enter your email address (optional) for a chance to win one of five $200 Amazon gift cards.
