Molloy University Highlights Legislative Forum & Doctoral Nursing Excellence

03 December 2025

ANA-NY is proud to share recent highlights from Molloy University’s PhD in Nursing Program and our ongoing collaboration to advance nursing scholarship and advocacy in New York.

On October 23, 2025, Molloy hosted a Legislative Forum that brought together New York State legislators and ANA-NY legislative nurse leaders for meaningful dialogue on issues impacting nursing, public health, and social well-being. More than 150 nurse leaders, practicing nurses, students, and community members attended.

Two panel discussions focused on topics such as environmental determinants of health, strengthening the nursing workforce, and improving access to care. ANA-NY nurse leaders Dr. Anna George, Dr. Giselle Gerardi, and Ms. Kimberly Velez joined Assembly Members Michael Durso (AD-9), Edward Ra (AD-19), and Judy Griffin (AD-21) to explore how nurses’ advocacy helps shape better policy and patient outcomes.

This event was co-sponsored by the Nurses Association of the Counties of Long Island (NACLI), the Molloy School of Nursing and Health Sciences, the Molloy Nursing Student Association, and ANA-NY. We extend our thanks to the full planning committee for their leadership and commitment to nursing advocacy and education.

Molloy also celebrated the achievements of PhD in Nursing students Patricia Brosnan and Faye Inumerables, both leaders at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, who received prestigious research awards supporting oncology-focused nursing science.

In addition, Molloy continues to offer Virtual Lunch & Learn Research Seminars (open to all, with 1 nursing contact hour) and provides multiple pathways for doctoral education, including the PhD and DNP-to-PhD bridge programs for nurses advancing research, practice, and policy.
