Last week, more than 500 nurses representing 47 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands descended on Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill. Nurse leaders shared information, insights, and personal experiences to educate lawmakers about priority legislative issues – including funding cuts to Medicaid.
Today, we find ourselves at a critical moment. The Senate has passed H.R.1, otherwise known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which, should it become law, cuts Medicaid and poses potentially devastating consequences to patients, nurses, and healthcare overall. The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on this bill tomorrow morning.
